Coming home/ Retour chez soi

This time I'll write in English instead of German, so that my dear friends overseas can read our news. Cette fois-ci j'ecrirais en anglais au lieu d'allemand pour que nos amis outre-mer puissent lire nos nouvelles.

Our road trip ended with a visit at Mesa Verde NP, where we could admire the building and survival skills of the Ancient People (Anazazi). It was inspiring and interesting to see how these people learned to adapt to the arid environment of the high desert. On our way home we stopped in Phoenix for a night to spend some time with my blogger friend Nath and her husband. Barely at home, we had to prepare for our departure to Germany two days later, but the excitement prevailed and we didn't mind.

Notre road-trip s'est termine avec une visite de Mesa Verde NP ou nous pouvions admirer les competences de construction et la capacite de survie des Indiens Anazasi. C'etait tres interessant de voir comment ce peuple a su s'adapter a un environnement aussi aride que le high desert. Sur notre chemin de retour, nous nous sommes arretes a Phoenix pour rendre visite a mon amie bloggeuse Nath et son mari et nous y avons passe la nuit. A peine de retour a Santee il fallait preparer notre depart pour l'Allemagne deux jours plus tard, mais l'excitation a surpasse l'ennui de loin.

One month already that we arrived here in Germany. What a difference between our road trip in the desert and high mountains with seemingly endless nature and the densely populated Germany with its small towns bedded in lush green forests.

Ca fait deja un mois que nous sommes arrives ici en Allemagne. Quelle difference entre notre voyage dans le desert et la haute montagne avec leurs vues infinies sur de paysages inhabites et l'Allemagne avec sa population dense et ses villages pittoresques entoures de forets et de verdure luxuriantes.

There are surprising similarities, though, in the building style used in the typical houses of my region and the buildings of the Anazasi. The Anazasi built their houses from stone and covered them with branches that were assembless in the same way as the interior of our timberframe homes.

Il y a neanmoins des similarites surprenantes. Le style de construction entre les maisons typiques de ma region et les habitations des Anazazi est tres semblable. Les Anazasi ont construits leurs maison ont pierre taille et les ont couvertes de branches de la meme maniere que l;interieur de nos maison en poutre et poteau.
